Born in 1949 in Fukuoka. In the early years of elementary school, he learned the names and shapes of American cars, and around the same time, became influenced by rockabilly. As a middle school student, he fell in love with The Beatles, and in high school, he encountered Counterculture. In university, he formed a band, released an album, and he then said goodbye to Tokyo to return home. Upon seeing Charles Eames' chair, he felt like he had known it all along, which sparked his interest in transitioning from sound design to form design. In 1998, he started "organ." He continues because "it's fascinating and I can't stop."

This ottoman was produced for a brief period in 1957 at the La Permanente Cantu workshop in Italy, which also worked on pieces by designers like Gio Ponti. It was commissioned by a prominent Italian priest. The fascinating history of this ottoman is further enriched by the distinct Tapiovaara style that permeates it. The combination of roughly woven leather straps and the tapered ends of the Burmese teak wood already makes a striking impact on its own. There is an "exotic elegance" that resonates with cultures from Africa, Persia, and even India. There are no structural issues. While there is some stiffening observed in the leather due to aging, it remains sturdy.
